If I was the boss of Channel 4, I would...

Everyone has an opinion about what Channel 4 should or should not be doing. So,as the channel celebrates its 25th Birthday, we asked three indie producers to explain what they would do if they were in charge.

One of the first things I would think about is: how do I get people to the web? There's good reason to go to the BBC website every day, and alot of people do. But there are very few reasons to go to the Channel 4 website at the moment it seems to be purely an information-based website. So I'd think about the interactive content that could be built around the key brands on the channel. And I'd want to be the first to premiere a reality format on the net. With programming I'd focus on core values: innovation and creating change.
I would rebrand the channels. So I would keep entertainment for the main channel, but I would would reinvigorate the More4 brand with the factual output. And I'd certainly keep E4 for the youth, but I'd invest more in youth programming and put more money into original programming on E4. And Part of the way to that is by reducing spending on US drama acquisitions. I'd do more original drama and look to take it back to those core values - where is the next Queer as Folk or Teachers?
